Giant Sea Turtle Returns to Texas

Glenn Reynolds writes:

ENVIRONMENTAL GOOD NEWS: Leatherback turtles return to Texas. “For the first time since the 1930’s, federal biologists confirmed that a leatherback sea turtle has nested on a Texas beach, at the Padre Island National Seashore near Corpus Christi. . . . The giant, ancient, endangered turtles, some the size of a Smart Car, have until now only been known to nest in four spots in the United States – with about three dozen females a year laying eggs on beaches along the east coast of Florida and slightly larger nesting populations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.”

But are they good to eat?

  1. Goddamn that’s a big turtle. A lot of soup.

  2. awww that is so harsh. how on earth can you think of such a thing like that being eaten??……well heres the answer. you cant. im only 12 but i know a lot about endangered animals and if you want them round for longer then stop treating them like there is hundreds and thousands of them in this world. imagine if you were that huge creature and someone shot you because you tasted nice.

  3. this picture is so cool!! how big are they because they look huge!!

and i agree. turtles should be left alone.
they have lived this long. they should live longer.
also manatees. you need to buy boats with high frequency insteead of low so the manatees can get out of the way

  6. LEAVE THE TURTLES ALONE!HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE TREATED JUST AS BAD?!
